Young man arrested after woman grabbed from behind in assault in Leacon Road near Victoria Way in Ashford

A 22-year-old Ashford man has been arrested in connection with the assault of a woman in her 40s.

The woman was walking home from work late at night when she was grabbed from behind.

It happened as she walked along Leacon Road, near the junction with Victoria Way.

The victim was able to break free and the suspect ran off towards Victoria Road.

It happened between 11.30pm on Wednesday, August 20 and just after midnight.

Detectives issued an e-fit last week and this morning revealed they have arrested a young man.

He has been bailed until Tuesday, September 16 pending further inquiries.
