Business owners in Ashford warned to be vigilant after series of theft

Business owners are being reminded to take steps to protect themselves against becoming victims of crime following reports of burglaries in Ashford.

Between 7.15pm on Monday, February 5 and 8am the following day, a nail bar in High Street was broken into.

It was reported that between 8pm on Wednesday, February 7 and 8.40am the following day, cash from a till was stolen during a burglary at a hair salon in New Rents. (ZY/06702/18)

Inspector Jason Atkinson said: ‘We are keeping an open mind as to whether these incidents might be linked.

"We do want to take this opportunity to remind business owners to review their safety measures and make regular checks of any areas when it may be easier for criminal to break in.

"Don’t leave large amounts of money on-site, ensure the building is secure at the end of each day. Make sure windows are locked.

"Consider installing CCTV, alarms and security lighting."
