Kent Police warning after KTM motorcycle and Voodoo bicycle stolen from Weavers Way, Ashford, when keys left in bowl

A motorbike was stolen after its owner left the ignition keys in a bowl in the kitchen and the backdoor unlocked.

Now police are warning residents to always have security at the forefront of their minds following the theft, in Weavers Way, Ashford, earlier this week.

A police spokesman said: "The incident occurred between 5pm and 6.30pm on Tuesday, April 7 in Weavers Way, Ashford. It is reported that a KTM motorcycle worth £1,550 was stolen along with a Voodoo pedal cycle worth £380.

"It is said the keys to the motorcycle and garage had been left in a bowl in the kitchen. It appears the suspect has entered the kitchen via the unlocked backdoor and stolen the keys before making off with the cycles.

"Officers are reminding people to be mindful of their home security. Keep doors and windows locked and if possible invest in CCTV and an alarm system. If you purchase CCTV check the system regularly to ensure it is working."
