Firefighters called to crash in Bromley Green Road, Ruckinge, and a car alight in Cornwallis Close in Willesborough, Ashford

Firefighters in the borough were kept busy last night, after a car ended up in a ditch and a fire broke out in another parked on a driveway.

A car was reported in a ditch in Bromley Green Road, Ruckinge, at around 10pm. One appliance from Ashford’s Red Watch attended the scene of the crash.

The male driver, who sustained back injuries, and a passenger had already exited the vehicle when the fire service arrived.

The police and ambulance services were already in attendance, and both passenger and driver were taken to hospital to receive treatment.

In a separate incident two appliances, one from Charing and another from Aldington, were called to reports of a car alight on a driveway in Willesborough, Ashford.

The fire broke out in a Renault Megane parked in Cornwallis Close at around 10.30pm.

Crews using hose reel jets worked for around 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, which is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
