Police and ambulance crews dealing with crash on the coastbound M20 between junctions 9 and 10 near Ashford

Traffic is backing up after a crash on the coastbound carriageway of the M20.

The accident happened between junction 9 for Ashford and Faversham and junction 10 for south Ashford just before 1pm.

The coastbound side was completely closed and traffic was held for about half an hour while police and ambulance crews deal with the incident.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 12.48pm following a two-vehicle collision on the coastbound carriageway of the M20 between Junctions 9 and 10.

"Fire and ambulance crews are also at the scene. One lane is currently closed."

The vehicles involved have now been moved to the hard shoulder and the lanes have reopened.
