Crash closes Station Road, Ashford

Emergency services were at the scene of a two-car crash that closed a road in Ashford last night.

Police and firefighters were called to Station Road near the Platform 5 bar just before 7.30pm.

Firefighters used cutting equipment to remove the roof of one of the cars to release a man trapped by his injuries.

He was placed into the care of the ambulance service.

Crews remained to make the scene safe.

The road remained shut while emergency services dealt with the crash.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a reported two vehicle collision in Station Road, Ashford, at 7.23pm on Thursday 20 October.

"The South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service were also called to the scene and one man was taken to a local hospital for treatment to injuries that are not reported to be serious."

A 19-year-old man from Ashford was arrested at the scene on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly, but this was unrelated to the crash. He remains in police custody.
