Ashford's A2042 Romney Marsh Road closed between Norman Road and A2070 Bad Munstereifel Road due to crash

A busy Ashford road is closed this afternoon as emergency services deal with the aftermath of a crash in which one man was injured.

The A2042 Romney Marsh Road is shut southbound between the Norman Road roundabout for the Designer Outlet and the A2070 Bad Munstereifel Road.

A 48-year-old man was freed from his car by firefighters and treated by paramedics before being taken to the William Harvey Hospital, Ashford, with lower back and abdominal pain.

Two ambulances rushed to the dual carriageway just after 2pm.

Ambulance spokesman Rich Airey said the car the man was in was stationary when another vehicle collided with it.

Kent Highway Services is warning motorists to use alternative routes.
