Fine weather drew out the crowds to support Ashford carnival on Sunday.

About 30 floats travelled from Stanhope ring road to the town centre.

Brenda Dickinson, who along with husband Terry has organised the event for more than 30 years, said: “We had floats from the rugby club, Sure Start, 1st Willesborough Brownies and the sea and air cadets.

“There were plenty of people about and plenty of children taking part and the weather was nice. Everyone put in a lot of effort.”
