Friends and family of teenager Daisy Washington, who was killed in a car crash two years ago, have launched a charity appeal in her name.

The 14-year-old from Repton Manor Road, Ashford, was killed with another teenager in a crash on the A20.

Her grieving parents Karen and Joe can never forget their fun-loving daughter – a pupil at Swadelands School in Lenham – who excelled at sport.

Now, with their closest friends and friends of Daisy they have launched a charity appeal to make sure her name lives on. The Daisy Washington Memorial Fund is raising cash for Ashford Pilgrims Hospice and aims to collect £100,000 during the year.

The first major fund-raiser will be held on June 20 with a golf day at Homelands – the Kingsnorth golf club where she was a regular player and held the record for the longest drive.

She also swam for Ashford and was a member of the town’s ladies rugby club.

They are inviting teams to enter a four-ball golf competition and they already have corporate sponsors for half the holes.

The event will be followed by an evening of entertainment with buffet supper at Homelands football stadium. Tickets are £20.

Friend Alison Lang, said: “Daisy was a typical fun-loving 14-year-old whose life was taken needlessly in a road accident.

“Her mother and father have decided to ensure her name lives on beyond the walls of their family home and believe the best way for that to happen is to raise money for people in more need than most.”

Anyone willing to sponsor the golf event or enter a team should see www.daisy-washington.co.uk or contact Alison Lang on 01233 503419.
