Jason Wilkes due to stand trial accused of causing daughter Chloe Wilkes' death in Ashford

A father accused of causing the death of his teenage daughter by supplying her with an illegal drug will stand trial later this month.

The date has been set for January 19 after Jason Wilkes failed in an attempt to have the charge dismissed.

The 44-year-old, of Tunbridge Way, Singleton, Ashford, denied the manslaughter of Chloe Wilkes by supplying her with MDMA (ecstasy) and an alternative of manslaughter by failing to obtain medical attention for her at the earliest opportunity.

Wilkes pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court to supplying the drug to Chloe, 17, between July 25 and 28 this year.

The former North School pupil felt unwell and collapsed after using MDMA on the evening of July 27.

She was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, where she died soon afterwards.

Judge Philip Statman remanded Wilkes in custody.
