Firefighters called to the M20 this morning between junction 8 and 9 after a lorry caught alight

Fire crews were called to the M20 this morning after a lorry caught on fire.

Two engines and a bulk water carrier arrived on the London-bound carriageway between junctions 8 and 9 at 5.25am.

They spent an hour on the motorway and wore breathing apparatus while using compressed air foam to tackle the blaze.

The road was closed by the Highways Agency, who were at the scene between 6am and 10am.

The fire was extinguished by 6.30am and the carriageway was re-opened at around 10am.
