Crews tackle three fires in Pluckley, along the M20 and in Warren Street, near Lenham

Ashford fire crews were called to three fires overnight.

The first call was to Stanford Bridge Farm, off Station Road, in Pluckley at 7.40pm after a heap of silage spontaneously combusted.

The pile of grass had got damp, causing a fire to break out.

Crews were at the scene for around 90 minutes.

They were next called to the M20 between junctions 10 and 11 at around 11pm after a car caught alight.

The occupant had pulled over after a blaze started in the engine.

The vehicle was severely damaged by the flames, although the driver escaped without injury.

Firefighters remained on the coastbound motorway for 30 minutes.

Two pumps from Ashford, including the water unit, also assisted with a barn fire in Warren Street, near Lenham.

A series of outer buildings had caught fire around midnight.

Crews from Charing and Lenham also attended the blaze, which destroyed several buildings.

Crews used a compressed air foam system to extinguish the fire.

They were there for around four hours.
