Folkestone Invicta travel to Kent rivals Herne Bay on Saturday looking to end a miserable run of seven league games without a win.

Last weekend’s 2-1 reverse at Horsham has seen Invicta drop into the bottom half of Ryman League, Division 1 South. They have not taken three points on their travels since August.

Herne Bay were playing Kent League football last season and Folkestone have already won an FA Cup tie at Winch’s Field this term but manager Neil Cugley (pictured) admits his side are underdogs in the rematch.

He said: "They’ve improved since then. We went there as favourites but now they’re probably favourites to win. We’ve lost some big players and they’ve brought a few in, so I expect an even game."

Invicta are adjusting to life without James Everitt and Lee Gledhill, who both left the club last Friday.

Financial restraints played a part in both cases but Cugley admitted the departure of Everitt, an Invicta stalwart, to rivals Hythe Town, was a bitter pill to swallow.

He said: "That was disappointing. James felt he needed a new challenge. He hasn’t played as well as we know he can and the frustration was there for him."

Invicta should have a fully-fit squad for the derby.
