Boiler catches fire in Ashford home

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled a fire caused by a boiler catching alight in a family home.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire in the airing cupboard of a property in Curtis Road, Willesborough at 9.56am on Sunday.

Crews arrived to find the boiler alight on the first floor of the two storey property.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus, a main jet and hose reel jet to tackle the fire and contain it to the first floor area of the house which suffered extensive fire and smoke damage.

There were no injuries. The fire is believed to have been started by an electrical fault.
