M20 Ashford: Lorry fire closes motorway after junction 9

A lorry fire closed part of the M20.

Fire crews were called at about 12.40pm to the blaze on the London-bound stretch at junction 9 for Ashford.

Both carriageways were closed while fire crews tackled the incident.

Both carriageways are now open.

Motorists are being warned of long delays as the fire caused a large diesel spillage across the carriageway, which highways officials are still clearing up.

Carly Bridger witnessed the fire starting.

She tweeted: "M20 London bound just after J9 happened right in front of me! Tyre blow out? Hit the barrier and burst into flames."

She added that the driver got out of the vehicle.
