Scott Porter has completed his Hythe squad for the season by signing striker Jake Hobbs from Beckenham.

Former Welling ace Hobbs (pictured), who scored almost 30 goals in the Kent League last season, joined on Tuesday night when Town players reported back for pre-season training.

Boss Porter, who has also announced the appointment of Lloyd Blackman as player-coach, said: "We’ve been after Jake for most of the summer so I’m delighted to bring him here.

"Maidstone were pursuing him as well – and he trained with them on Saturday – but he liked what he saw here.

"He’s a young lad with quick feet, plenty of pace and he scores goals.

"He wants to get back to the level he was at with Welling and I’m happy to give him a chance. That’s the squad finished now."

Blackman is back at Reachfields after a brief spell as a player last season.

The 29-year-old has been identified by Porter as the man to help his side’s Ryman League Division 1 South play-off push.

Porter said: "I’ve brought him in mainly to help with the coaching but he’ll play when required.

"He’s passionate, knows a lot about the game and has a good football brain."
