Inquest opens into Sandgate death crash

An inquest is due to open today after a man died and two women were seriously injured in a seafront crash.

Nicholas Carter, 57, of Studfall Close, Hythe, was pronounced dead at the scene on the Esplanade in Sandgate.

Police were called to the area at 9.40am on Tuesday, December 4 after it was said Mr Carter's car had hit the women.

A 67-year-old local woman was flown to King's College Hospital, in London, where she remains in a critical but stable condition.

The second woman, 51, remains at the William Harvey Hospital, in Ashford, where she is still being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

The inquest is due to open in Folkestone in today.
