Kilbeggan Blade set to defend Kent Grand National title

A total of 13 horses have been entered for this year’s Kent
Grand National at Charing on
Sunday.

The three-mile six-furlong race which is off at 2.20pm, is the feature race on the card at the West Street and Tickham meeting, the first of the South East season, called off last week due to snow and ice.

The course passed a precautionary inspection on Thursday morning and spokesman Rob Harrison, said: "The winds are drying the course and improving things all the time.

"Rain is forecast on Friday, and we will make a final decision early on Saturday morning

Last year’s winner Kilbeggan Blade (pictured) is back while Freddies Return, who triumphed at Detling in 2011, is also in the field, after missing all last season through injury.

Entry is £10 per person with under-16s and car parking free. The first race is at noon.
