Lorry driver suffers burns in gas cooker explosion by Hare and Hounds pub, Sandyhurst Lane, Ashford

A lorry driver suffered burns to his face when a gas cooker exploded.

The incident happened in the lorry which was parked in a layby off the A20 by the Hare and Hounds pub, Sandyhurst Lane, Ashford, last night.

An ambulance and firefighters were called.

A spokesman for Ashford fire station said the gas cooker had blown up in the lorry driver’s face. Firefighters did not have to do anything.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We were called at 6.55pm to reports of a fire in a lorry.

“One ambulance went and there was one male casualty. He suffered minor burns and was taken to the William Harvey Hospital.”
