Serious crash on M20 between Ashford and Hythe

A serious crash closed part of the M20 today.

The accident happened on the coast-bound carriageway at about 4.20pm.

Both sides were closed between junction 10 for Ashford and 11 for Hythe to allow the air ambulance to land.

The London-bound side reopened at about 5.45pm and delays are clearing, followed by the coast-bound carriageway at about 9.30pm.

Police, firefighters and ambulance crews were all called to the crash.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 4.20pm to a report of a collision on the M20, coastbound, between junctions 10 and 11, which involved one vehicle.

One person is thought to have been involved, but the extent of their injuries is not yet known.
