Folkestone man charged with GBH, attempted burglary and a theft of a motor vehicle after stabbing in Little Olantigh Road, Wye

A 23-year-old man has been charged after a pensioner was stabbed in Wye.

Leonidis Mouzakitis, of Cheriton, near Folkestone, has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated burglary and grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent.

All three charges relate to the incident in Little Olantigh Road on Sunday morning, when a woman in her 70s was stabbed at her home.

She was flown to a London hospital with serious injuries and is making steady progress. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Emergency crews rushed to the house at the junction of Coldharbour Lane and the woman was airlifted to King's College Hospital.

A police helicopter was later seen flying over the area and officers announced they had arrested a man on Monday.

The road was closed for two days while forensic teams carried out an investigation but has reopened today.

Mouzakitis was remanded in custody when he appeared at Medway Magistrates Court today via video link.

His next court appearance will be on September 14 at Maidstone Crown Court.
