Ashford: Plans to turn former music shop into micropub withdrawn

Plans for a new micropub in the town centre have been withdrawn.

The Made Inn Company Limited submitted a planning application in May to convert a former retail unit in New Rents into a micro pub.

The pub was set to add to the town's 'thriving cafe culture' and offer a range of locally sourced and produced products from a venue which has a 'traditional Kentish image'.

Earlier this week the application to convert it into a micropub was withdrawn by the clients, however they are still interested in filling the site and using it as a venue to sell local Kentish produce.

The currently vacant space had been used as a music shop for many years.

Keely Timms and James Plows had run The Music Shop for four years but made the decision to close in February as Ms Timms recovers from illness.

Martin Judd had previously ran the store for 20 years but sadly passed away from cancer in 2015.
