A fund-raiser is to host a music marathon in preparation for running a real one.

Journalist Joanna Earle will host the event at the Tenterden club in Church Road on Saturday March 28 to help boost sponsorship for her participation in the London Marathon on April 26 in aid of the national deaf-blind charity, Sense.

The musical evening will include several local bands.

There will also be a raffle with prizes such as a meal at the Little Silver Country Hotel in St Michael’s and tickets for a Chelsea football match.

Joanna, 25, hopes to raise £2,500 for Sense and has been out running 15 miles in the countryside in preparation.

She said: “I once did a story on a young deaf-blind boy in Yorkshire and followed him through his day-to-day life.

“It was an eye opener to see the support the charity provides to him and his family.”

Joanna, of Homewood Road, said: “Sense offers a vital lifeline to deaf-blind people, offering them support and teaching skills to live as independently as possible.”

Tickets for the music marathon are £12 and are available on 07765 406413.
