Suspected pheasant poachers armed with crossbows spotted in a private wooded estate in Westwell, near Ashford

Suspected pheasant poachers armed with crossbows have been spotted in a private wooded estate in Westwell, Ashford.

Police have issued a series of security camera images to identify the four men dressed in camouflage clothes.

The group is suspected of a series of offences, including aggravated trespass and theft act poaching.

The images were taken on Sunday, September 20 at around 5.30pm.

Kent Police Rural issued a series of tweets asking twitter followers to help identify the men.

PC Darren Reed of the Rural Task Force, said: "We are keen to identify the person to speak to them about what happened.

"We are concerned that there are people wandering around armed with crossbows.

"The men are seen carrying rucksacks and leaning over a fence. But it's a private estate and there is no reason they should be there.

"There's no footpath and we believe it's a deliberate attempt to enter that location for the purpose of killing pheasants or other wildlife."
