Images have been released of two people police would like to trace after a pensioner's purse was stolen in the County Square in Ashford

Police have released images of a man and woman they would like to trace in relation to the alleged theft of a purse from a pensioner.

An 89-year-old woman was shopping in the County Square, in Ashford's town centre, at around 1.50pm on Thursday, June 27 when a woman bumped into her and apologised.

The woman thought nothing more of it until she went to pay for some items and found her purse was missing.

An investigation revealed that a bank card from the stolen purse was used to withdraw £250 from a cash machine from the Tesco Express, in Mace Lane, at around 2.10pm the same afternoon.

Now, police are appealing for information about the two people in the CCTV images.

The woman is described as white, of medium build, aged 45 to 50, with shoulder length dark hair with a fringe. She was wearing a black cardigan and a white vest top, black leggings, white socks and open sandals.

The man is described as white, slim, with short grey hair, aged 45 to 50.

He was wearing a striped short sleeved polo shirt with yellow/blue stripes, dark trousers and dark shoes with a white rim.
