A road in Ashford was shut for more than seven hours in both directions due to a fallen tree.

The A251 Faversham Road at Challock was closed this morning at Buck Street at around 7.35am.

Powerlines are reportedly down, but UK Power Networks confirmed that no power outages have been logged in the area.

It caused a build up of traffic between A252 and Sandyhurst Lane.

There were signed diversions in place.

Highways officials confirmed the road finally reopened at around 2.55pm.
