Cockapoo puppy Lola needed veterinary treatment after being attacked in a field in Chilmington Green, near Ashford

A woman is furious after her nine-month old cockapoo was savagely attacked by another dog.

Sharon Burberry and her 12-year-old daughter were walking puppy Lola in a cornfield close to Chilmington Green Road, in Chilminton Green, near Ashford when a bullmastiff type dog came bounding towards them.

The dog sunk its teeth into Lola, who was on a lead, and only let go when Mrs Burberry kicked him off.

The furious owner said: “I spotted two ladies with two big dogs so put Lola on a lead.

“I saw the bullmastiff one running over and I shouted to the owners that I had a puppy and was asking whether it was friendly. They just ignored me.

“The next thing it was on top of Lola. He shook her like a rag doll.

“I couldn’t get him off so in the end kicked it. Lola was pouring with blood.”

Mrs Burberry picked the poor pet up and handed her to her daughter, telling her to run back to the farmer they had just passed.

She then followed the other owners in order to get their details.

Speaking about the other owners, Mrs Burberry adds: “They were not bothered in the slightest and didn’t even apologise!

“They hurriedly tried to retreat to their car which was a blueish grey Vauxhall Astra.”

They gave Mrs Burberry a name and phone number, although she has now discovered that the phone is not in use, and suspects it is a fake name.

She took Lola to Cinque Ports Vets in Kingsnorth where she needed stitches for her bites. She also has to wear a cone.

Mrs Burberry, who works at the Pilgrims Hospice in Ashford, said: “It is not acceptable.

Kent Police say then visited Mrs Burberry and “provided her with safety advice”.

The add that the details of the incident have been recorded.
