Shock death of Ashford Dynamo midfielder Andy Hone, Ashford and District Sunday Football League reports.

Ashford’s Sunday football league community is in mourning this weekend following the death of a popular player.

Players and fans have been left in shock after Ashford Dynamo midfielder Andy Hone passed away.

A statement on the Ashford and District Sunday Football League website, written by spokesman Ryan Mills said: “Players, team mates, friends and family were in mourning following the sad news of the death of Ashford Dynamo midfielder Andy Hone.

"The popular local footballer, who also helped Shadoxhurst to the Division Four league and cup double in 2008, was part of the Dynamo side that won promotion to the Premier Division last year, and was a regular for the Royal Blues again this season.

“News of his untimely death has shocked the local football community, with hundreds of tributes being posted on social media websites.

“Our thoughts go out to his family, close friends and team mates. RIP Andy.”

The League asked all clubs and players to observe a minute’s applause for Mr Hone during all of today’s fixtures.

It also accepted a request to postpone Ashford Dynamo’s away league fixture at Brewmaster today.

The cause of Mr Hone’s death is not yet confirmed.
