When challenged, the group left empty handed and on foot in the direction of Barry Road.

Police officers arrived but could not find the offenders, who struck between 12.15am and 12.30am on Monday.

Det Insp Rob Haines said: "It is clear these offenders targeted the wrong home.

"They went in, we believe, to try to steal drugs and associated paraphernalia. However, this was the address of a professional couple who confronted them.

"The offenders fled the scene empty handed and probably a little embarrassed."

At least five men entered the house, including one described as white, in his mid-20s, approximately 5ft 6ins tall and with a distinctive square jaw line, and a second described as black with short cropped hair and of medium to stocky build.
