TV's Gogglebox star Sandi Bogle set to release charity single 'White Christmas' with Jack Rose, 15, from Ashford

What do you get when you put a TV star with a teen singer-songwriter? A bid for Christmas number one with a charity single, of course!

Sandi Bogle from Channel 4's hit programme Gogglebox has teamed up with 15-year-old singer-songwriter, Jack Rose from Ashford, Kent to release a Christmas single.

The duo's version of the festive classic 'White Christmas', made famous by Bing Crosby, comes out tomorrow on Friday December 23 at midnight.

Jack explained about how the opportunity arose: "I planned to do a Christmas single back in March or April, around that time, and I wanted to do it with someone and I just didn't know who."

Jack then met Sandi at a Beverley Knight concert at Westenhanger Castle in Kent in June earlier this year. She has been known to visit Ashford on several occasions, usually to eat at the popular italian restaurant Amici.

The 51-year-old shot to fame on the popular television show, which follows a selection of families watching and commenting on the programmes that have been broadcast during the week.

Jack said: "I just thought 'I want to do this Christmas single with Sandi.' We got in the studio. We laid it down and it just sounded brilliant.

"So many people are just supporting us and giving us everything that we need to carry on with the single. We're hoping for it do well so we can raise money for charity."

The pair performed their single yesterday at Jack's school, Homewood in Tenterden. Jack also peformed a pop song he co-wrote called Woman Like The Ocean, which will be released next month. He also hopes to release an EP or an album next year.

Sandi said: "They even lit their phones up! There was an ocean of bright lights. It looked amazing!"

The team's version of the song is modern and acoustic. Sandi said: "We've added a few little bits and pieces to it and just brought it a bit more up to date. And a bit of us in it. That's what it's about... fun!"

Money raised from the single will go to the Great Ormond Street Hospital charity, a cause close to both their hearts.

Sandi said: "My sister's daughter used to be in Great Ormond Street. When it all came out that that's who he [Jack] chose, I thought that's a definite for me. There's a connection there for both of us.

Jack said: "I've always wanted to do something for charity for children so they can have a better Christmas and obviously Great Ormond Street is possibly the best charity to do for that. Also because my best mate's little cousin is in there right now."

In continuing their charitable bid, Jack contacted different people in the music industry who offered their services for free to record the single in the summer.

Kevin Thorpe at Big Jam Studios agreed to record the track, while Ricky Patel played the acoustic guitar and Shane The Cutter worked as mastering engineer. Renowned artist, The Doodle Man, also created the cover of the single.

The two plan to work together in the future. Jack said: "We don't know what yet, but 100% we are going to work together again.

"This isn't the end of Jack and Sandi! White Christmas wasn't a one off. We're going to be probably working together all the time!"

Sandi echoed this: "He ain't going no where! We're going to definitely do more work together. He's amazing. He's not getting rid of me that quick.

"His brain is screwed on already and he knows education has to come first anyway, so me and his mum and dad, we always make sure that's a definite.

"He's talented, and I love working with him. We just click every time we're in the studio. We have fun at the same time, but when we have to work we work. And it works."

"Babes... I'm not going anywhere! So you're hearing it from me!" - Sandi Bogle

Sandi has featured on the show since 2013 with her pal Sandra, who are well-known for their funny one-liners. Sandra's daughter Chanchez recently stepped in to fill Sandi's place.

Sandi explained what she will be doing in the meantime: "There are a lot of things that I'm doing at the moment, it's not all about my singing, I have a lot of hobbies I do, which singing is one, fashion is another and also I like to do a lot of children community work to give back to kids so it's all positive stuff.

Jack quipped: "So don't worry guys, Sandi will be back on Gogglebox!"

Sandi released her single, a cover of Casanova, in September which reached number 37 in the dance charts, and is currently working on her own rendition of Somebody Else's Guy by Jocelyn Brown.

Talking about her plans for 2017, Sandi said: "I'm working on a couple of other stuff coming out... and hopefully my album... hint hint, wink wink!

"I'm old school. You don't hear people bringing back a lot of those tunes which I used to dance to and I enjoy listening to so I want to put them all down on an album and bring that out to people who are going to enjoy it even more."

Talking about the audience, Sandi said: "They're gonna love it babe! Because I'm always the last one dancing and there's always a lot of us out when we go out raving!

"Music's in my family anyway so it's just about spreading the word and keeping it real which I do."

The single is available to preorder on iTunes now and will be on general release from tomorrow Friday December 23 at midnight. The single can also be pre-ordered here.
