Two arrested after shopping centre brawl

Shoppers watched as police arrested two men following a fight in County Square shopping centre in Ashford on Thursday afternoon.

It happened near the Poundland shop at 4.30pm, in full view of shoppers.

PCSO Martin Sabin was the first officer at the scene and put himself between two men, trying to offer protection to one, and tried to calm the situation.

The level of aggression escalated and back-up was called for as one of the men became increasingly agitated.

Additional PCSOs and police officers arrived and one man was pinned to the ground by a group of half a dozen officers.

Both men were arrested. An 18 year-old local man was bailed pending further enquiries and a 25 year-old man is still in custody.
