M20 opened after crash involving motorbike near Ashford

A section of the M20 has now reopened coast-bound near Ashford after a crash just after midday, in which a woman motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries.

Traffic built up between J9 for the A20 for Faversham and J10 for Ashford South after a woman came off her motorbike.

The London-bound carriageway was closed while the air ambulance landed.

It is thought a motorcyclist fell off her bike but it's not believed any other vehicles were involved.

The coast-bound carriageway was earlier completely closed from junction 9, but one lane reopened just after 5pm and the others opened later in the evening. The London-bound carriageway was closed while the air ambulance landed and took off. Motorists were warned to expect long delays.PC Claire Russell-Thomas, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "I’d urge anyone who witnessed the collision or who stopped at the scene to assist but didn’t get a chance to speak to an officer to contact police.’

Meanwhile, all lanes on the M20 near Brands Hatch are now open after a separate crash involving a lorry and van earlier this morning.

Traffic built up after the collision on the M20 coast-bound between M25 at J3 for the A20 Swanley Interchange and J2 for the A227 and Brands Hatch.
