Two men have been arrested after a lorry driver was reportedly stabbed in Ashford.

A 51-year-old man was taken to the William Harvey Hospital yesterday with what was described as a minor facial injury after the assault.

Kent Police were called to the scene - in Brookfield Court, off Brookfield Road - at 12.20pm.

Early witness reports said the victim had been stabbed.

Officers remained at the scene until late afternoon.

Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone who has information about the incident, which took place between 11.45am and 12.15pm.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "Police investigating an alleged assault would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or has information about a group of youths who were abusive to a delivery driver.

"Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail while officers make further enquiries."

Anyone who can help is asked to phone 101, quoting crime reference ZY/3086/13, or Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
