Police have held a van driver on suspicion of assault after a high speed chase.

Officers were called to a private residential address in Ashford at 9.35am on Friday, April 28 after a report that a woman had been assaulted.

A 23-year-old man got in a van and drove off, but was pursued by officers from the Roads Policing Unit in Lincoln Road in the Bridgefield housing estate.

He was arrested and remains in police custody, the victim is not believed to have been seriously injured.
