An Ashford man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault after two separate alleged attacks in the town.

The 27-year-old was held last night and remains in police custody today.

Kent Police said he was arrested after reports of attacks in Towers View on Monday evening and in a park off Hythe Road on Monday, October 28.

The force yesterday issued an appeal for information after a 44-year-old woman was reportedly assaulted by a man who jumped out of bushes.

She said she was walking back from a friend's house when she was targeted in Towers View, Kennington, on Monday.

The woman told police a man grabbed her hair and pulled at her trousers before fleeing down an alleyway at about 6.15pm.

Her face was scratched and her hand cut, but she did not go to hospital.
