Woman taken to William Harvey Hospital, Ashford, after being hit by car in New Street

A pedestrian was hit by a car in New Street, Ashford, this morning. 

The collision happened at 11.30am and the woman was taken to the William Harvey Hospital with injuries that police described as not serious. 

Witnesses reported seeing a woman lying underneath the car after the accident, which happened close to budget supermarket Lidl. 

Traffic built up in the area following the crash. 

The female car driver was not injured, police said.
