Ashford: Railway staff stop woman falling off platform

Railway staff have been praised for saving the life of a distressed woman at Ashford International station.

Police officers were called after the woman was spotted near the platform edge.

Grounds maintenance worker Steve Smith, who works for the Keogh company and lives in Hothfield, raised the alarm.

Mr Smith and other station staff including Arron Dolan, Martyn Grout and Gary Harris have been praised for saving the woman.

No injuries were reported during the incident, which happened just after 5pm last Thursday.

The woman was looked after by paramedics.
