Leon Camier is back in action in the fourth round of the FIM World Superbike Championship at Monza in Italy on Sunday.

The Ashford-born FIXI Crescent Suzuki rider finished ninth and seven in Assen a fortnight ago, despite still suffering from the knee injury that he sustained in a crash at the previous meeting in Spain.

Camier said: “I’m expecting a pretty hard weekend regardless of my fitness.

“It’s a tough and fast circuit to race at, but we have a few things to try and if we get the set-up right and the chassis working well, we might be able to make some advantages count on the track that will help us.”

He added: “My knee is getting better all the time and I’m working hard to get it fully fit.

“It was pretty swollen after the race at Assen, but I have now had the stitches out and it’s healed really well. It’s okay now, but still quite sore.

“I’ve done lots of gym work and a bit of hiking in the mountains to get it stronger and the movement better.

“It will still take a bit of time to get it 100 per cent, but I am looking forward to getting myself bike fit, especially with my home race (at Donington Park) coming up later this month.”
