Neil Cugley says he is delighted that teenage striker Johan Ter Horst has agreed to stay at Folkestone Invicta.

The 18-year-old striker, who lives in Hythe, signed a new one-year deal on Tuesday, more good news for the Cheriton Road boss, following Stuart King’s return to the club last week.

Cugley said: “Johan is a young lad with great potential who scored nine goals in 18 games last season. He started very well, had a little bit of a wobble in the middle, when he came up against stronger more experienced sides, but came good at the end, showing what he is all about.

"I am pleased because there was a chance he might be going off to college, but he has decided to take a year out,”

Ter Horst will report back for pre-season training at the end of this month, with Cugley likely to be working with bigger numbers than ever before.

He added: “I think we will have around 20 coming in, which is very unusual for me. I have asked several players to join us, because they may offer us something we haven’t got at the moment."
