Lisa Dobriskey admits she is in “a good place” after achieving the World Championship A standard qualifying time in Poland on Saturday.

The 29-year-old Olympic 1500m runner from New Romney – now based at Loughborough – is enjoying being injury and pain-free and was pleased with her time of 4.04.81 at the Janusz Kosiski Memorial Meeting in Szczecin.

Dobriskey’s mindset is in stark contrast to this time last year when she was recovering from blood clots on the lung, a potentially life threatening situation, which saw her rushed to hospital.

Saturday’s time puts her second in the 2013 UK rankings and followed her 10th place in the Diamond League meeting in Rome at the beginning of the month.

The 2009 world silver medallist said: “I was happy with the way things went and it was a good race for me with the luxury of racing against a slightly weaker field, after being thrown in at the deep end in Rome.

“The run gives me reassurance ahead of the world trials (in Birmingham next month) but it will still be tough.”
