Scott Porter has described the next 10 days as massive for Hythe Town.

The 4-3 win at Horsham on Wednesday extended their unbeaten run to 16 games, to move above Faversham into third place in the Ryman League Division 1 play-offs. The two Kent rivals now meet in the play-off semi-finals next Tuesday.

Victory for Hythe in their last league game of the season at Walton & Hersham on Saturday will clinch home advantage.

Hythe led 3-0 at half time - after three goals in 12 minutes by skipper Dave Cook, Jake Hobbs and Michael Yianni.

The Sussex side pulled one back four minutes after the restart, before Brendon Cass made it 4-1 just before the hour.

Horsham scored twice in a minute just before the end, but their comeback came too late.

Porter said: "It’s a massive time for the club, we have done well to get here, but now I want to go on and and try to win promotion to the Premier Division.

"We have had a lot of success in my time as a manager, and getting to the play-offs is a big step for the club, and ticks another box.

"I am not going to ease up though, rest people and change things. We fielded our strongest side at Horsham and will do so again at Walton.

He added: "We want to keep the unbeaten run going, are full of confidence, and everyone is bang up for it."
