Ashford Hockey Club advertise nationally as search for new men's coach is ongoing

Ashford Hockey Club’s search for a new men’s hockey coach is ongoing.
The job is being advertised nationally via the England Hockey website and skipper Sam Handley said: “We have received a couple of applications but will let things run until the middle of next month and then look at things again.”

Meanwhile, Handley, Rob Playford, and Chris Smith feature for Kent against Gloucestershire in the County Championship semi-finals at Old Loughtonians this weekend.

The squad also includes former Ashford head coach Aaron Glass and Canterbury pair, player-coach Kwan Brown and Aussie Craig Boyne.

Handley led the county to runners-up spot in Pool 3 behind winners Northumberland at Liverpool earlier this month.

Meanwhile, the club are continuing their Back to Hockey sessions encouraging more women to return to the sport.

The scheme is running alongside Sport England’s “This Girl Can” campaign, the national programme designed to make sport enjoyable.

The six-week programme includes a session at Ashford’s Ball Lane, Kennington headquarters, every Thursday between 6.30-7.30pm. Equipment is available.
