Kent rower Tom Ransley wins gold medal in men's eight at Rio Olympics

A Kent rower was among the team of eight who held on to clinch a gold medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro today.

Tom Ransley, 30, from Woodchurch near Ashford, was part of the men’s eight team that ensured Team GB tops the rowing medals table.

It comes four years after he missed out on gold at the London Olympic Games in 2012, where he took silver.
