Suspected sex attacker arrested after a women is assaulted in St Margaret's Street in Canterbury

A man has been arrested after a woman reported she had been sexually assaulted in Canterbury city centre.

The attack is said to have happened in St Margaret's Street and now officers want to hear from other women who may have been approached by a man behaving inappropriately.

They say the incident happened between 11pm and midnight on Tuesday, July 26 which resulted in a 40-year-old man from Canterbury being arrested. He has been released on police bail until September 12 while inquiries continue.

Detective Constable Christopher Waterfall said: "As part of the investigation, we would like to appeal to women who were in the area of St Margaret’s Street and High Street at the time and may have been approached by a man acting inappropriately."
