Two arrested after man suffers head injury in Orange Street, Canterbury

Two men were arrested and a third hospitalised after violence erupted in central Canterbury on Saturday night.

Police were called to Orange Street at 9.26pm after reports of a disturbance at the popular Seven Stars pub.

Minutes later, a second related incident took place outside the Thomas Becket in Best Lane in which a man was knocked out and a window damaged.

It is understood the incidents involved the same two groups of men.

A police spokesman said: “We were called to a report of an altercation between a group of people.

"Officers attended the scene where a 46-year-old man had suffered a head injury and was taken to a local hospital.

"His injuries are not thought to be serious."

A 21-year-old man and a 50-year-old man were arrested.

They have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
