Beach huts destroyed by fire

Fire has destroyed four beach huts at Herne Bay just hours after owners had celebrated taking part in the town’s best-dressed hut competition.

Householders living near the seafront reported a hut alight at about 2.45am, but by the time Herne Bay fire fighters arrived just minutes later, the flames had spread to three others.

The cause is being investigated but is not thought to be arson.
