Canterbury College student punched in the face in racist attack in Dane John Gardens

A teenage boy was punched in the face in a racist attack in a park this afternoon.

The 16-year-old was left with blood pouring out of his nose and mouth after the assault in Canterbury's Dane John Gardens at about 2pm.

He had been alone and looking for friends when he was approached by a man who called him a "Paki".

The slightly-built boy - an A-Level student at Canterbury College with dark hair and olive skin - responded and was punched in the face by the man, who just walked away.

The teenager was left shaken but was able to make contact with friends, who put him on a bus home as he was too upset to return to class.

The boy described his attacker as aged between 20 and 30, of medium build and about 6ft tall. He had been wearing a black hoodie and had a brown goatee beard.

The police have been informed and are reviewing CCTV footage.

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting crime reference ZY/1451/15.
