Canterbury: Burst water main closes Shalloak Road

A key route used by commuters in Canterbury could be shut for four days because of a burst water main.

Kent County Council confirmed urgent repairs are underway to fix the problem on Shalloak Road near Broad Oak.

They are being carried out by South East Water and are expected to take up to four days.

The news created a storm of protest on social media, with some motorists saying it took them nearly an hour to get through the roadworks.

Others questioned why it was not noticed earlier, saying the leak had been going on for months.
