Canterbury bus station closure affects east kent evening services

Bus passengers are warned of night time closure to Canterbury bus station from Tuesday evening.

Highways engineers will be resurfacing St George's Lane over a seven-night period ending Thursday September 1 - excluding the bank holiday weekend.

Initial work will involve rebuilding manhole covers before the current road surface is milled in preparation for relaying.

As a result the bus station will not operate from 9pm to 5am from Tuesday.

During the daytime buses will operate normally from the bus station.

From 9pm buses will use alternative stops in the surrounding area.

All services after 9pm will operate via the following routes:

All Sturry Road-bound buses (Triangle at 21:05, 21:40, 22:10, 22:40 and 23:15 and route 8 buses at 21:40, 22:45 and 23:10) will serve Broadstreet Magistrates Court bus stop.

Passengers will need to board the bus at this stop.

All Whitstable and Faversham-bound buses (Triangle at 21:15, 21:45, 22:15, 22:50 and 23:20 androute 3 at 21:00 and 22:35) will serve Canterbury East Rail Station stop.

Passengers will need to board the bus at this stop.

All Dover, Sandwich and Deal-bound buses (route 14A at 21:05, 22:00, 22:50, route 15 at 21:20, 22:20 and 23:30 and National Express coaches at 2345 and 0115) will serve the Waitrose bus stop on New Dover Road.

Passengers will need to board the bus at this stop.

Hawkinge and Folkestone-bound Gold16 buses at 21:05, 22:05 and 23:15 will serve the Waitrose bus stop on the New Dover Road.

Passengers will need to board the bus at this stop.

The Elham Valley and Folkestone bound route 17 bus at 22:40 will serve the Health Centre on the Old Dover Road.

Passengers will need to board the bus at this stop.

The City route 22A buses to Hales Place and London Road Estate at 21:41 and 22:41 will serve Canterbury East Rail Station stop.

Passengers will need to board the bus at this stop.

The City route 25A buses to Kent & Canterbury Hospital, Barton and Spring Lane Estates at21:17 and 22:17 will serve the Waitrose bus stop on New Dover Road.

Passengers will need to board the bus at this stop.

All passengers travelling from Whitstable and Faversham will need to to alight at Pin Hill.

All passengers travelling from Sturry and Thanet will need to alight at the Magistrates Court on Broad Street.

All passengers travelling from Dover, Deal and Sandwich and on National Express will need to alight at the Waitrose bus stop on New Dover Road.
