Byron Walker admits he doesn’t know where he will be playing this season.

The 26-year-old Herne Bay striker has been back training with League 1 side Oldham for the last fortnight but says he is still waiting for things to happen.

He played twice for the Latics in trial games at the end of last season and has featured in two pre-season friendlies, playing 45 minutes in a 1-0 defeat against Hull City and had a 25-minute run out in a 3-1 win over Fleetwood Town.

However, he had to sit out a 2-1 win against a star-studded Manchester City side on Tuesday, including Joe Hart, Nasri and Vincent Kompany, after picking up an ankle injury in training the previous day.

Speaking from Manchester yesterday (Wednesday), Walker said: “I am no clearer about where I am going. I talked to Simon Halsey at Herne Bay as well but I don’t know if I will be going back because the idea was to look to play at a higher level.

“I played 45 minutes for Bay at Whitstable and 10 minutes in the following game against Seven Acre and also played 90 minutes for Woking. Things are drifting on. I thought I would be settled now.”

Halsey continues to prepare for Bay’s Ryman League, Division 1 South bow in a fortnight’s time, confirming three new signings this week.

Striker George Landais, who scored a penalty in the 2-0 win at Sevenoaks last week (Michael Turner got the other) and midfielders Josh Sergeant and Calum McGeehan.

Landais played for Swedish Third Division side Junseles last season and his move is subject to international clearance from the FA. Former Gillingham youngster Sergeant has had spells at Margate and Faversham, while McGeehan was with coach Hugo Langton at Horsham.

Nathan Eastwood, Tom Parker and Adam Woolcott have re-signed, while Halsey is still looking at trialists, Marvin Okundalaiye, Dave Adebola, James Gregory and Brad King.

However, Woodstock Sports manager Ben Taylor confirmed earlier this week the club had re-signed Bay striker Ashley Baverstock.

Bay are at home to Royston Town in the annual Titch Willet Shield on Saturday (3pm).
